Just before noon dispatchers were receiving several 911 calls about a downed power line. It was at the intersection of Highway 93 and North Reverse, North of Kalispell. About 10,000 Flathead Electric Co-op customers were without power as of 1 p.m., including the Glacier International Airport and several hospitals. Those businesses are now operating on backup generators. The downed line is a transmission line from a Flathead Electric substation. We do not know the cause of the downed power line at this time, but we do know power is out all along Highway 93. That includes businesses, stop lights, homes and fast food places. Even areas ten miles away in Whitefish and Columbia Falls are reporting power outages, as well as West Glacier and Libby. Tune into the News at 5 for more details.
